GAIA - THE EARTH GODDESS

We Are All Her Children

When Gaia isn't frolicking in the flowers and sunlight and playing with baby animals, she likes to sink Whaling ships and bring disease to Climate Polluters. She loves the world, but she is suspicious of its most insidious inhabitants - Humans.

SHA'KERT: END OF NIGHT

Development Process

Ishmael A. Soledad, the Author of Sha'Kert: End of Night, provided early concept sketches for this cover, with a confident vision of how it should look.

From descriptions and extracts, Gaia produced the first grayscale drafts that follow the sketches. She then brought 'the pearl' to life, illuminating the ocean below; and finally, the soft colours warmed the dark beach and shone upon the ethereal reflections of characters suggested by Ishmael from the very beginning. I think you'll agree the result is enthralling, perfectly befitting the debut publication of a Publisher of Dark Speculative Fiction.

A Land Without Wolves

Development Process

After some back and forth between The Gatekeeper and Daniel Wade, Author of this wonderful Historical Fiction novel set in 18th Century Ireland, we opted for a composite image incorporating important scenes from the novel. Once again, Gaia did not let us down:

  • The Highwayman Joseph Mac Tíre waits to attack the approaching carriage

  • The gallows displays its latest victim - could this be Mogue Trench?

  • In the foreground, the banner of a rebellious Ireland hangs among the British dead
  • In the trees to the left of the scene, the redcoats advance...

  • ...while overlooking the scene, the enigmatic Tintern Abbey hides in the mist
