Welcome to the Darkness - the good kind. This is the kind that helps, the kind that heals, the kind that shows us the way. And we all need guidance from time to time.

In Channel The Dark you will find work from writers new and established, as we embrace their literary voices in support of a worthy cause.

Not all works in this volume are analogous of a dark experience in the lives of their respective writer, but all are part of a journey towards the light - a journey of triumph over adversity, of resilience over futility, and of personal enlightenment through the written word.

From immersive dystopian Sci-Fi to epic lyrical Fantasy; from contemporary allegory to musings on fear, loss, and not making the most of your life; and from fighting one's past to coming to terms with who you are, there is as much exploration of the human psyche to be found in these pages as there is humanity to be celebrated.

100% of the proceeds from this ebook go directly to SOSAD Ireland, raising awareness of and helping to prevent suicide in Ireland. Channel The Dark, Vol. 1 was launched at an event of the same name in Drogheda, Co. Louth on May 27 2023, at which invited authors and mental health professionals spoke about the benefits of writing for mental health.

    Something for everyone

This is a great anthology that showcases the wide variety of speculative fiction being produced by Irish authors, as well as those from abroad under the wing of Temple Dark Books. Dystopian-esque SF, various strands of horror and dark fantasy are all on show here. There's also a really unusual and innovative piece about a detective with the sensory powers of a dog, which has a real Gothic/classic lit sort of feel.

A bonus is the selection of tasters of Temple Dark's published novels.
