Speculative Fiction Ireland
Your New Home for Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror
"Time is the echo in which space exists."
For all Little Green People
SFI is a brand new project for Readers, Writers, & Artists in the Sci-Fi, Fantasy, & Horror genres. Its goal is to bring together lovers of speculative fiction stories, books and artwork in a way that builds a community of support and interaction. SFI is open to everyone, not just to people living in Ireland but also to those who are Irish at heart (and isn't everyone?). As it stands currently, any events planned for the future will take place in Ireland but will also have options for online attendance or interaction. Services can be offered online (see Professional Member, below) to anyone in the world.
You'll find our membership options further down this page. Note that the SFI blog is a Members-Only space, in which only SFI members will be able to contribute or comment. This is to ensure it doesn't deteriorate into some bot- or hate-filled space like you might find on social media platforms. Note that becoming a member on the Temple Dark Books website (which is free) does not give you access to any of the perks listed below. SFI is a separate entity, hosted by Temple Dark Books.
SFI is our space. SFI is your space. Be welcome.

Speculative Fiction Ireland (hosted by Temple Dark Publications Ltd. will facilitate the sale of Members' e-book(s) and/or artwork, and will forward 80% of net receipts from each sale to the respective SFI Professional Member. "Net receipts" is the amount received by Speculative Fiction Ireland following payment processing fees. Payment processing fees are typically (as they are set by the respective payment faciltator; e.g. PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc.) 2.9% of full amount +$0.30 (platform operates in USD base currency, so always allow for real-time conversion). For example, if an e-book or print is sold at €/$5.00, SFI will receive €/$4.555 (5.00-0.445 [0.145+.30}). SFI Members will receive 80% of this "net receipt", which is €/$3.64. As a real world example, a recent (Mar 29 2025) e-book sale saw net receipts of €2.63 from a €2.99 sale (compare approx. €2.05 from a €2.99 sale on Amazon KDP). If you have any further questions about this process before deciding whether to sign up, don't hesitate to contact us.

In order to facilitate sales of SFI Members' e-book(s), members must be in a position to send us their own ePub files, in the case of e-books (which must include high quality cover art); and high quality (at least 300DPI) PNGs or JPGs of their artwork. We will then create e-reader mockups and artwork mockups and present the e-book(s) and/or prints for sale. Other than this, we do not take any responsibility for the presentation of your title(s) or artwork, nor are we responsible for or assume any liability for any of the content therein; nor will we undertake any work to improve or alter the content therein. You as the author, artist and copyright holder will assume all responsibility, legally, morally, or otherwise, for your own content. Any impact on sales due to the quality and content of your work will be borne completely and ultimately by you, the author, and will not reflect on SFI or Temple Dark Publications Ltd.. SFI and Temple Dark Publications Ltd. hereby waive responsibility for any and all content considered offensive in any way; as well as any and all content infringing upon the copyright of any other author; and/or for any outcome which could not have been otherwise foreseen by anyone who has/had not read your work prior to facilitating its sale in the SFI store.

If an SFI Professional Member wishes to offer services and classes, it is advised to contact us directly to clarify the process, which involves setting you up as a 'Staff' member on our system and facilitating calendar synchronisation and other features which will streamline your offerings. Similar to the above (1.), SFI will forward 80% of net receipts to the respective SFI Professional Member. However, this circumstance is open to negotiation, so we would encourage you to contact us.
