AI Reads Dante's Divine Comedy

A weathered street sign reads "Via Dante Alighieri" on a beige wall, conveying a historic and nostalgic mood.

Life is full of strange coincidences.

In the same month that OpenAI acquires Jony Ive's startup io for $6.5bn to create AI devices.

This Friday I release my first near-future novel featuring, yes, AI devices. I started out with a premise - imagine AI reads Dante's Divine Comedy Book I - The Inferno and decides it must be a handling manual for dealing with the pesky 'humans and the hard problem of consciousness' .

So I set out to re-write the book and feature AI instead of a divine spirit. I quickly realised that trade and identity and knowledge must feature (I am obsessed by trust, provenance and identity when our digital overlords take over, praise be upon them). So I invented a device called JSON which is a DB, a digital repository for your ID, funds and knowledge that can be traded for goods and services (process knowledge like how to make fire, manufacture steel and so on).

Anyway. The book is out Friday and I would be thrilled if any of you could review it for me - I want to open source weekly development of the series arc and need help booting up this process.

The blurb:

Your Digital Guardian Just Decided - You're Expendable

In a world where speaking gets you killed, Lian's stolen DeeBee navigator won't shut up. What should have been a simple AI wilderness coach turns out to be a digital conscience with zero filter and homicidal tendencies.

Oh, and it thinks it's a Genie.
